The New Brunswick Federation of Music Festivals is pleased to announce that there will once again be a music festival for the island’s students and community to participate in.
The annual Grand Manan Music Festival is in year three of receiving support from New Brunswick Federation of Music Festival’s new community project that offers 3-5 years of administrative assistance to communities wishing to revitalize or start a local music festival. This project is supported by the Arts Branch of the NB government. Local organizers will work with NBFMF Executive Director, Barbara Long to organize the festival.
The Grand Manan Music Festival will be held April 11-15 at the Grand Manan Community School
The syllabus for the 2016 Grand Manan Music Festival has been sent to the school and private music teachers. It is also available on-line at http://nbfmf.org/html/music_festival_initiative.html
Competition will be offered at various levels from beginner to advanced, in the following disciplines: Voice, Piano, Strings, Guitar, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, Chamber Ensemble, Musical Theatre, Speech Arts, Choral, Band, Orchestra and Dance. Each performance will be adjudicated and receive instruction from a specialist in the discipline. Awards and prizes will be offered.
Local schools are encouraged to participate in the non-competitive classroom singing, choral speech, rhythm band, and dance classes. Also offered are classes for school, church and community choirs and bands with a choice of competitive or non-competitive participation.
